EDUCATION

​OCBPC believes that many challenges raptors face are prevented through education. Volunteers take birds to schools, civic groups, interpretive programs, nature centers and media events for engaging live, animal interactions and teachings. Our ambassador birds and volunteer teams lead the way to create meaningful experiences for the public to learn more about local raptor species, their ecological role, and our efforts to aid them.

RESCUE

OCBPC is the connection to the larger community for these birds and you are a part! We can all play a role to save these magnificent birds of prey. Through education we are creating a network of caring people, building an informed and engaged public that’s aware of raptor issues and the resources available. It is with your call that trained animal service officers can retrieve injured birds and bring them to our care. We aim for a community of citizens that continue to learn about native wildlife and our ecological effect of cohabiting wild spaces. As we provide opportunities for people to stay curious and passionate about the nature that surrounds them, we can all continue to advocate and protect wildlife.

where we heal

REHABILITATION

Working closely with veterinarians and staff at Serrano Animal and Bird Hospital, OCBPC is able to provide state of the art medical treatment and referrals to a network of specialists. Raptors coming to us in crisis are met with surgeries to repair wings, treatments to address trauma, access to medication, and extensive rehabilitation. As they transition from caring hands of our Doctors to volunteer staff at the Center, convalescing birds receive the time, space, and attention to heal and build strength. Volunteers provide exceptional care in feeding, monitoring, and observation as these raptors prepare to return to the wild. When ready, they  are passed once again, to your caring hands, the giving individual that has provided support for the birds journey thus far, to be let go and released back into the wild with a gentle swoop of an arm.
