Adopt an Ambassador
Not every raptor that comes through OCBPC can return to the wild. Some arrive with conditions or circumstances that make survival on their own impossible. These birds are non-releasable and rather than live out their lives unseen, they found a new calling. Our education ambassadors are the heart of what we do. They travel to schools, community events, and programs across Orange County, giving people — especially children — an up-close encounter with a wild raptor that inspires wonder and helps bridge the growing gap between people and the natural world. Close enough to see the texture of a feather. To watch a Great Horned Owl lock eyes with a child who has never seen anything like it. Those moments matter. They create the next generation of conservationists, wildlife advocates, and people who slow down when they see a hawk on a wire.

But none of it is free.

Each ambassador costs approximately $X per year to care for properly. Across our eight birds, that adds up to $X annually. Your adoption directly supports: Daily food and nutrition — A carefully managed diet of prey items appropriate to each species, sourced and prepared by our trained staff, at a cost of approximately $X per bird each year.
Veterinary and medical care — Routine health monitoring, emergency treatment, and the ongoing care that keeps a non-releasable bird healthy for years or even decades, averaging $X per bird annually.
Enrichment and training — Mental and physical stimulation that ensures our ambassadors aren't just surviving in our care, they're thriving in it. When you adopt one of our ambassadors, you become part of the team behind every school visit, every outstretched wing, every child who walks away looking at the sky a little differently. These birds give everything to the mission.
